The advocacy organization Care Can’t Wait Action is set to launch a significant digital advertising campaign next week, focusing on the financial burdens associated with caregiving. The effort, which represents a six-figure investment, will target six battleground congressional districts to pressure incumbent Republican representatives over the rising expenses of child and senior care, as well as the lack of guaranteed paid leave policies.
According to Semafor, the campaign highlights the stark disparity between the median constituent wages and the actual costs of caregiving services. The advertisements will specifically target Reps. Rob Bresnahan, Brian Fitzpatrick, Ryan Mackenzie, and Scott Perry of Pennsylvania, along with Thomas Barrett of Michigan and Juan Ciscomani of Arizona. Furthermore, the group intends to expand its messaging into the district of Michigan Rep. John James following the conclusion of the state's upcoming primary election.
This strategic push follows findings from recent polling conducted by Impact Research. The data suggests that approximately 70% of voters in these competitive districts are either currently providing care, have done so in the past, or anticipate needing to provide care in the future. By tying the personal financial strain felt by these constituents to the legislative records of Republican candidates, the organization aims to elevate caregiving as a central issue in the lead-up to the elections.
