Eve Air Mobility, a subsidiary of Embraer, has successfully completed the first partial transition flight of its engineering prototype. The milestone flight, which occurred on August 3, 2026, lasted three minutes and nine seconds and focused on the activation of the aircraftβs rear pusher propeller. This maneuver is essential for the transition from traditional vertical takeoff to wing-borne cruise flight, a fundamental capability for electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) vehicles.
During the test, the aircraft reached a maximum ground speed of 30 knots, with the pusher propeller reaching speeds of up to 1,200 RPM, according to AeroTime. The prototype maintained stability at 27 knots and ascended to an altitude of 90 feet, covering roughly 0.84 nautical miles. Johann Bordais, CEO of Eve Air Mobility, noted that the successful activation validates core elements of the companyβs aircraft design and brings the team closer to delivering scalable urban air mobility solutions.
Engineering leadership at the company emphasized that the data harvested during this flight is vital for the ongoing expansion of the aircraft's flight envelope. Moving forward, the development team intends to conduct further structural analyses and loads testing. The current roadmap includes datalink validation to support operation speeds up to 50 knots. As the flight-test campaign progresses, the company expects to conduct additional flights featuring deeper transition testing to refine the platform's performance and safety standards.
