A cohort of twenty-eight Israeli children, all of whom lost a parent serving in the country's security forces, recently concluded a three-week trip across the United States. Organized by the IDF Widows & Orphans Organization, the annual Bar/Bat Mitzvah program is designed to provide emotional support and a sense of shared identity for children navigating the challenges of bereavement. The delegation traveled through several U.S. cities, including stops in Chicago, rural Wisconsin, New York City, and New Jersey.

The itinerary included meaningful cultural engagements, such as a Broadway performance of "The Lion King," which organizers selected for its poignant themes of overcoming loss and honoring a parent's memory. The organization, which has been active since 1991, has seen a sharp increase in its support mission following the events of October 7, 2023, which resulted in a significant rise in the number of orphans and widows requiring long-term assistance, advocacy, and rehabilitation services.
