A new international rail corridor has officially opened, linking Frankfurt am Main in Germany with the Polish city of Przemyśl, a strategic gateway located near the Ukrainian border. Operated by the Renfe-backed company Leo Express in collaboration with Ukraine's national rail operator, UZ, the service provides a direct overnight connection designed to bolster European cross-border travel. According to Railway Gazette, the route became fully operational for rail travel on July 31, following a period where the Polish leg of the journey was serviced by temporary bus connections during a regulatory review requested by PKP Intercity.

This daily service operates using RIC-certified hauled coaches, offering passengers air-conditioned couchette compartments with amenities such as free Wi-Fi and power outlets. Travelers can select from mixed or women-only accommodations. The train route transverses significant European transit hubs, including Dresden, Prague, Ostrava, and Kraków. By aligning schedules with Ukrainian domestic train arrivals, the service facilitates seamless transit for passengers originating from major Ukrainian cities like Kyiv, Odesa, and Dnipro. Local government officials in Ukraine have emphasized that this integration reflects a broader commitment to connecting the national rail network with the wider European infrastructure.

CEO Peter Köhler noted that this expansion aligns with the operator's mission to strengthen international connectivity. The current schedule sees departures from Przemyśl at 12:04, arriving in Frankfurt by 07:22 the following morning, while the westbound service departs Frankfurt at 15:03 to arrive in Poland by 11:25. This development highlights ongoing efforts to improve mobility between the EU and Ukraine, supported by initiatives such as variable-gauge bogie funding to assist with logistical challenges at the border.
